The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP) is a public utility that provides water and electricity to much of the region encompassing the City of Los Angeles. The LADWP was created in 1902, but its roots can be traced back to 1869 when William Mulholland established the private water company known today as the Los Angeles Water Company. In 1913, two more companies were formed.

The Los Angeles Electric Railway Company – later renamed Southern California Edison – and Pacific Light & Power Company which became part of Southern California Gas Company in 1945. These three companies merged into one entity, LA Dept. Of Water And Power (DWP). It wasn’t until September 17th, 1928 that DWP changed its name to LADWP.
Tribal Rates: In 2015, LADWP implemented a Tribal Rate to provide water to Tribal Lands in Southern California. The rate reflects the cost of providing clean and reliable water service. The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power offers a portal to their employees for the purpose of accessing information about their pay and other things related to their employment. This WAS used in a phishing campaign and at least one employee fell for it. I found this out from the FBI who called me to report they had intercepted a spear phish that was sent to my email account. They were trying to determine if I was responsible for the Phishing emails (I wasn’t, but it was still fun dealing with them).
